Macbeth Practice-October 24
Play practice today was productive. Ms. Hargrevas informed us that we have about 3 1/2 weeks till we perform. This was a shock to all of us! Time had gone by fast, memories of our first line run-throughs in earlier August were still fresh in my mind; it seemed like yesterday. Once the moment of brief panic subsided and we began blocking, I regained confidence that the show will be fantastically successful. We worked on perfecting and creating blocking for the Death of Banquo scene as well as the death of Lady Maduff and her children. Ms.Riley has so many creative ideas on new, fresh ways for us Murderers to assassinate our victims: breaking necks, stabbing, vicious blows with machete like wood rods in sensitive places. There are so many we can explore and use to make each murder we conduct interesting to the audience. We also worked on character development. I enjoy playing around with the idea that my character is vicious, ruthless, and has been scarred but what she has done and seen. She does not fool around, she is extremely professional. She gets a twisted pleasure but watching people suffer, as well as inflicting pain and murdering the innocent. As practice goes own, we build better understanding of our characters and really being to act as we grow more comfortable with the language and our lines.
